Google Launches Affordable Pixel 9a with State-of-the-Art Specs
Google has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Pixel 9a, the most affordable in the Pixel 9 series. Priced at $499 or approximately 49,999 Indian rupees, it’s out in April. Japan’s official store has the Pixel 9a listed but pricing is not available yet.
Design and Build: A Big Leap
The Pixel 9a has the same design as the Pixel 9 series, aluminum frame, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The back panel is polycarbonate and not have rounded edges like the previous model. It also has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Display: Bright and Bold
It has a 6.3-inch pOLED display, 2424 x 1080 pixels, up to 120Hz refresh rate. It shines in HDR content with up to 1800 nits and 2700 nits but only 8-bit color depth. The optical fingerprint sensor is embedded for security.

It’s powered by Tensor G4 chip and Titan M2 security coprocessor. 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage options. 48MP main camera and 13MP ultra-wide lens. Macro focus and astrophotography feature.

5100mAh battery and up to 30 hours of usage. 23W fast charging and Qi-standard wireless charging.
Software and Support: Future-Proofed
Android 15 and 7 years of OS and security updates.
