Xiaomi has revealed its next big growth strategy — a complete integration of in-house developed chips, operating systems, and artificial intelligence models by 2026. The announcement was made at Xiaomi’s annual technology awards event in China, where the company highlighted its progress in core technologies.
Record-Breaking Research Achievements
The event showcased Xiaomi’s technical achievements from the past year. Out of 154 projects submitted across ten departments, 66 advanced to the final stage. These projects covered areas such as semiconductors, camera technology, AI, and advanced materials, marking a record high in both quality and quantity of innovation.

XRING O1 – Xiaomi’s Flagship Chip
The highlight of the event was the XRING O1, Xiaomi’s first flagship mobile chip developed entirely in-house. Built on a second-generation 3nm process, the chip features a ten-core CPU with four clusters, balancing high performance and power efficiency.
According to Xiaomi, this achievement makes it the first company in mainland China to release a flagship 3nm mobile chip, and only the fourth company worldwide to reach this milestone. This positions Xiaomi among a select group of leaders in advanced semiconductor technology.
Full Integration Planned for 2026
Xiaomi’s CEO, Raigun, emphasized that the XRING O1 is just the beginning. By 2026, the company aims to integrate its chips, OS, and AI models into a single ecosystem. This move is not just about reducing costs but about ensuring long-term competitiveness and building a fully independent technology stack.
Expanding R&D Investments
To support this ambitious plan, Xiaomi is significantly increasing its investment in research and development. The company had initially planned to invest 100 billion over five years, but it has already surpassed that with 150 billion spent. Looking ahead, Xiaomi plans to invest an additional 200 billion in the next five years, focusing on chips, AI, and OS.
Beyond Smartphones – Ecosystem Expansion
Xiaomi’s full-stack technology strategy is designed to strengthen its entire ecosystem, extending beyond smartphones to include smart homes, automobiles, and connected devices. This expansion reflects Xiaomi’s vision of becoming a leader in integrated technology solutions that impact everyday life.
For users, this means future Xiaomi products could deliver smoother performance, smarter AI-driven experiences, and deeper integration across devices.
