Xiaomi has announced a voluntary recall of almost 146,000 units of its popular 20,000mAh PB2030MI power bank after discovering a potential safety issue in a small number of devices.
The recall affects products purchased between August and September 2024. According to Xiaomi, the problem lies in certain units that used a battery cell version 2.0, type 126280. While the majority of devices are safe, this specific battery cell could pose a safety risk if used under extreme conditions.
The PB2030MI model is well‑known for its 33W fast charging and built‑in cable, making it a favorite among tech users. However, Xiaomi has decided to act proactively after discussions with regulators, stating that it prefers to address the issue before any incidents occur.
