Highlights:
- Two new Xperia phones with mid-range Qualcomm chipsets
- Both run on Android 15
- Code name “Volcano” hints at Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and 7s Gen 3 chips
- Expected to be siblings in performance, despite slight CPU differences
- Could be Xperia 10 VII or a new variant
- Leaked via Weibo and Geekbench screenshots
The Xperia 1 VII is launching on June 5, 2025 but behind the scenes there’s already buzz about what’s coming next — especially in the mid-range segment.
A recent Weibo leak has revealed some interesting details about two new Xperia phones. While their names are unknown, both devices are on Android 15 and have a code name: “Volcano”.

What We Know So Far
According to the Geekbench results, the two Xperia devices are powered by:
- One device has a 2.30GHz performance core, likely Snapdragon 6 Gen 4
- The other device has a 2.50GHz performance core, likely Snapdragon 7s Gen 3
Both chipsets have the same architecture so they should feel like siblings in performance, despite the 7s Gen 3 being slightly more powerful. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is the more recent but backward compatible version of the 7s Gen 3 which was already used in the Nothing Phone (3a) in Japan.
What Models Could These Be?
Sony hasn’t announced anything beyond the Xperia 1 VII yet but one of these two devices could be the Xperia 10 VII which is expected to launch this fall. The other might be a variant or derivative model in the same series.
Both devices have around 7.2GB RAM, likely to be marketed as 8GB and will be among the first mid-range phones to run Android 15 out of the box.
No Official Word Yet — But Signs Point to Final Testing
Sony hasn’t confirmed these models yet but the fact that Geekbench results are out means the phones are already in final testing. Will we see an official announcement soon? Maybe after summer. Until then, keep an eye out — 2025 mid-range is going to be fun!
