 Highlights

  • Samsung’s first triple-folding phone may be limited to just a few thousand units
  • Originally rumored for mass production, now scaled back
  • UAE is the only confirmed launch market so far
  • Unique three-part fold design transforms into tablet size

Galaxy Z TriFold: A Rare Innovation

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold is making headlines — not just for its futuristic design, but for how rare it might be. First revealed quietly at APEC South Korea 2025, the phone features a three-part folding mechanism that opens into a tablet-sized screen.

But despite early excitement, new reports suggest Samsung is scaling back production.

From Mass Production to Limited Release

Initial rumors pointed to 20,000 units being produced in China and South Korea, with global expansion hinted by Bluetooth SIG certifications.

However, South Korean outlet The Elec now reports that Samsung’s supplier plans have dropped to just “several tens of thousands” — and only 2,000 to 3,000 units worth of parts were ready by November.

Actual assembly numbers remain unclear, and only the UAE has officially confirmed a launch.

 A Bold Design with Challenges

The TriFold’s design is unlike anything in the Galaxy Z Fold series. It folds in three sections, creating a large display when opened. But this also means a thicker body and a more complex hinge system.

Samsung may be proceeding cautiously due to technical challenges and high production costs, especially with competitors like Huawei’s Mate Xs series pushing the foldable market forward.
