Google has officially rolled out a new screenshot editing feature for Pixel devices, moving editing tools into the Pixel Studio app. This update, which was previously tested in Android 16 QPR2 Beta 1, is now available with the stable November update. Pixel users can now enjoy advanced editing powered by AI, making screenshots more customizable and expressive.
Pixel Studio Integration
Instead of the traditional editing tools, screenshots now open directly in Pixel Studio when you press the edit button. This change gives users access to a wider range of tools, including trimming, markup, text, stickers, and AI‑powered editing. According to Android Authority, the new editor has already been spotted on multiple Pixel devices, including the Pixel 9 Pro XL running Android 16. To use the feature, Pixel Studio must be updated to version 2.0.001.793728176.12 or higher.
AI Editing Preview
One of the most exciting additions is the AI editing preview function. Users can select objects in a screenshot and instruct the AI in natural language to erase or modify them. Pixel Studio then attempts to generate edits automatically. While this feature is still in preview and results may vary, it represents a big step toward smarter, more intuitive editing.
Enhanced Customization
Pixel Studio also expands creative options. The color scheme selector has been improved, offering more choices inspired by Material Design 3. Fonts for text editing have been expanded, and the Highlight Tool now supports additional colors. Users can even create and add their own stickers, giving screenshots a personalized touch.
New Toolbar Features
The redesigned toolbar includes:
- Trimming
- Mark‑up
- Text
- AI editing (magic wand icon)
- Stickers
- AI erasure (eraser icon)

Both AI editing and AI erasing support quick and manual selection, giving users flexibility depending on their needs.
Availability
The new editor is being rolled out gradually with the November Pixel update. Users who have already updated their devices can try it by taking a screenshot and opening the edit screen.
