Instagram’s Latest Feature Explained
Instagram has officially launched a new tool called Link Reels, giving users the ability to connect multiple Reels together into a single series. The update is now available worldwide, including in India, and is aimed at creators who want to share content in an episodic style — similar to a web series.
This feature comes at a time when many creators are breaking up their videos into smaller, easier‑to‑consume parts to keep audiences hooked. It also helps overcome the time limits of a single Reel by letting you tell a story across several videos.
How to Link New Reels
When you create a new Reel, you’ll find the ‘Link Reels’ option under the caption section. From here, you can link it to previous or future videos, and even combine it with polls, quizzes, and hashtags to make your series more interactive.
How to Link Existing Reels
You’re not limited to new uploads. To link older Reels:
- Choose the video you want to link.
- Tap the three‑dot menu in the bottom right.
- Select “Link a Reel” and choose the next video in the series.
Editing Linked Reels
If you ever need to make changes, select your linked video, tap “Edit linked reel”, and adjust the connections. You can add new videos, remove existing links, or rearrange the flow of your series.
One limitation at the moment is that Instagram doesn’t allow automatic reordering of linked Reels. You’ll have to sort them manually to make sure they play in the correct sequence.

Why Instagram Added This Feature
According to Instagram, ‘Link Reels’ is a response to the growing popularity of multi‑part storytelling. By linking videos, creators can encourage viewers to watch several clips in a row, increasing both engagement and watch time. This approach not only keeps audiences interested but can also help creators grow their follower base.
The feature is especially useful for tutorials, behind‑the‑scenes looks, event coverage, and any other story that unfolds in steps.
