Google Updates Find My Device – Now Share Real-Time Locations!

Google has updated the Find My Device app and added a new feature that improves user connectivity and safety. The new “People” tab lets you share your real-time location with contacts, beyond the original purpose of finding lost devices.

Key Features

Real-Time Location Sharing: Like Google Maps, the “People” tab allows you to share your location in real time with one or more people. You can do this through a contact list or a shareable link, so you can choose how you want to share your location.

Control Over Duration: You can set the duration for how long your location is shared. From 1 hour to 24 hours or until you disable it manually, you have full control over your privacy.

Multi-Account Management: If you have multiple Google accounts on one device, the update makes it easy to switch between accounts. You can do this through the profile icon on the top right corner of the app.

More Accessibility and Security

While location-sharing features exist in Google Maps, integrating this into the Find My Device app makes it more accessible and streamlined for you. This update not only simplifies location sharing but also brings Google’s offering closer to Apple’s “Find My” service which is known for its robust location sharing features.

Availability

The “People” tab is still in Beta but has already been rolled out to users worldwide. According to software 77.in, users in India have started receiving the update with the new tab after updating to version 3.1.277-4 of the Find My Device app.

This is a big update for the Find My Device app, making it more useful for daily use and potentially more safe for you.
