Alibaba Launches Quark AI Glasses in China

Alibaba has officially entered the smart glasses market with the launch of its new Quark AI glasses in China. The company has introduced two product lines — the premium S1 models and the more affordable G1 models — designed to bring artificial intelligence directly into everyday life.

Both versions of Quark glasses connect with Alibaba’s Qwen AI app, which allows users to control the device through touch and voice commands. This integration makes the glasses more than just a gadget; they are positioned as a gateway into Alibaba’s digital ecosystem.

 Key Highlights

 Features That Stand Out

The Quark glasses come with real‑time translation and the ability to generate summaries of notes using AI. This makes them useful for professionals, students, and travelers.

Integration with Alibaba’s ecosystem means users can shop on Taobao, make payments via Alipay, or even stream music from QQ Music without pulling out their phones.

The S1 models are designed for premium users, offering micro LED technology, dual chips, and high‑quality visuals up to 3K resolution for images and 4K for video playback. Meanwhile, the G1 models are lighter and more affordable, aimed at casual daily use.

 Market Position

Alibaba’s Quark glasses are being compared to Meta’s Ray‑Ban smart glasses, but with deeper integration into Alibaba’s services. For now, the glasses are only available in China, with prices starting at 1,899 yuan. There are currently no plans for a global release.

Sujit Ram notes that Alibaba’s move highlights the growing competition in the wearable AI market. While specs and pricing matter, the real value lies in how seamlessly these devices fit into daily life.
